The nearest sound myself and my Russian girlfriend could come up with was a French word (so a lot of western European English speakers should recognise it!). The french word is "soeur" (sister) which sounds almost exactly the same as the Russian word Cblp (cheese). Having experimented it wasn't hard to drop the s and r front and back and keep the sound in the middle. It might help with people struggling. Thanks for the lessons so far, they've been a great help.
