English H in russian is written as "Х". And russian "Н" is sound like english "N". There are no letters written like W or N in russian. You can read SOBAKA (СОБАКА, собака, dog) like SABAKA or SOBAKA and try to hear the difference. It's very hard to hear i think. That's why if don't know the words it's hard to write them without mistakes. You'll be often not sure if there is "А" letter or "О". But sometimes it's easy to check it - if you no how to pronounce similar words. For example word H(А,О)ГА' - But plural form of this word is НО'ГИ - so it's НОГА. (' - means accent.)
